Products that form a hard resin with sealant and lubricant properties work well for this. We recommend Double Boiled Linseed Oil and Paste Wax. Mineral Oil also works well for temporary protection.
view moreAll products are compatible as long as they are thin enough. Products that tend to function through seepage into the wood are less advisable because if overapplication occurs, they will not dry very easily leading to unfavourable results. Therefore we recommend either using Waxes, Mineral oil, Teak oil or Hardwax Oil.
view moreAll the drying oils are miscible with (only) oil stains which you can use to obtain a particular finish. This includes Raw Linseed Oil, Tung oil, Danish Oil and Hardwax Oil primarily. We don’t offer prestained finishes.
view moreHistorically RLO and Mineral Oil have been used to clean, but we suggest Mineral Oil and Liquid BW as a cleaning agent, best by mixing with solvents and fragrance. RLO’s resin formation and characteristic smell makes it a bit worse for it.
view moreA lack of a plastic based finish means that structurally we can’t provide the level of gloss that Poly products (such as PU) provide. Instead of seeing a plasticky layer on top of the wood, you would essentially see the wood’s own features being accentuated. Waxes have a good amount of inherent sheen in them, but they need to be buffed for it to come out. Shellac is also good for this purpose.
