Products that fall under the “finish” category are good with this use case with a drying oil base. This includes Raw Linseed Oil, Tung Oil, Shellac, Danish Oil, Hardwax Oil, Teak Oil and Tung Oil Finish. Mineral Oil, and waxes are not advisable as a finish.

Application - Water resistance

Tung Oil is a traditional finish for boats. Shellac is alcohol based and repels water. High solid items such as DBLO, and oil blends offer moderately low water resistance.
